Bloomin’ Bakes

Mr Love and I have just had an offer accepted on a fab mid century modern flat with a large garden! Hurrah! At last I can plan the veg patch I’ve been hankering for and get properly excited about nurturing our little bit of green space in London.

With this in mind we were swiftly taken along to visit the Alexandra Nursery in Penge, along with some friends that have been gushing about this place since they happened upon it.
It’s nothing short of a lush and fragrant oasis filled with top notch quality plants, vintage finds and most importantly, cake! Tables and chairs are arranged amongst the flowers while beverages and baked goods are served on mis-matched vintage china. I made very short work of a lovely homemade Victoria Sponge and I also managed to make a dent in Mr L’s coffee cake ( this is unusual as I hate the taste of coffee ).

If you are in the area I urge you to pop in, breath deep, and inhale the earthy herbs and flora. Or just scoff some excellent cake washed down with a brew.

  1. It’s a great place, last time I went, I had a blueberry cake, supplied by Forest Hill Cakes, who also supply the cafe at Hilly Fields.

Lemony loves comments!
